That will teach me. I grossly underestimated how much stock I’d need to take care of the initial Quar orders. by a factor of almost 4. I am now spending more time in the basement casting than I am spending hiding bodies. I should have all of the orders shipped by friday.
Thanks everyone for making their debut so successful!
Next month we’ll have some of fantasy and horror offerings and more Quar in july.
Well, damn!

Quar pricing.
posted 2007 Mar by Joshua Qualtieri
I don’t have firm pricing yet but it is a tough subject. I am a miniatures hobbyist who does this in his spare time. My figures are not in distribution so I don’t move a high volume. BUT sculptors charge me as much as they charge the big guys. So while GW may make a profit off a figure in its first week it may take me months or a year before I do.
As I said I am in it for the hobby so a profit isn’t that important but I do need to make some money back that I can then invest in getting new figures made.
That said my current thoughts are:
10 quar squad $35 USD
2 quar MG team $8 USD
Vehicle Crewman $4 USD
Character $6 USD (he has a lot of extra bits)
Accessory Pack $8 USD (More bits than you’ve ever seen!)

I’m starting to play around with a map of the Quar nations.
Its up in the Quar Art section.

Finally the little boogers are going to start invading the rest of the world, not just my little corner of it. Beware!
Sequoia and I have been waiting for this for a while. I’m damned excited.
Of teases, aphids and shipping.

Sorry to tease you all with that front page graphic. I’m just very excited about the new and upcoming stuff and had to post something.
Also the Litko folks have agreed to allow me to package some of their bases with my figures so in a few weeks you’ll be able to buy the aphids bundled with or without bases similar to the ones in the painted pictures. Additionally around the same time the aphids themselves will increase 15-20% in cost. When I priced them out it was at the old $-per-pound amount. When I purchased pewter at the beginning of January it had gone up 17% from the last time I bought it. So I’ll need to adjust. Also once I run out of plastic slottas I’ll most likely convert the zombies over to Litko slottas as well.
Lastly overseas shipping has either gone up or pewter weighs more. I used to be able to ship a padded envelope to Europe for $4.50 or so. It’s closer to $6.00 now. So, in two weeks all of my international rates will go up by $1.00.
Things and stuff.

Finally added color pictures of all the aphids. Tomorrow I’ll add the color pictures of Doctor Strange and then I’ll finally have color pictures of everything up. Thanks squirrel and monkey(turtle.)
After the zombie sale I may have to take a look at my prices after all. I just bought another big chunk of pewter and boy has it gone up. 17% since the last time I bought some.
Some updates.

Aphids are up, but no pictures yet. What’s the point then? Hell if I know, but there should be pictures soon.
Also got the pictures of the painted Homemaker pair up. Thanks paint monkey!
Coming soon: Aphids.

Aphids? Ayup, Aphids.
You’ll see. Don’t get too excited though. I’m the only one that likes them.
Some more painted Zeds.

Doesn’t it annoy you when miniatures companies don’t have painted pictures of their product up? Working to fix that. Color pictures of all but the three latest figures up now.
What do you think?

- Hey, those are cheap, I need to buy some!
- Those are pricey but nice.
My friends are always telling me that I could charge more, that I am below most industry standards(They run a game store.) I know I am priced way below the figures I buy myself but that has never bothered me. While I do need to make my money back, its also my hobby and it always feels strange to charge for it. If ZombieSmith were my ‘real’ job I’m sure I’d feel different, but then it wouldn’t be a hobby anymore.
ZombieSmith is about to double or triple its number of products and I’m really scratching my head to figure out what to charge.
Anyone out there have any thoughts?
Oh, and the three new figures are out, but I’m guessing you saw that. Our first releases in over a year!
3 new zombies next week!

We’ll be adding a new zombie/un-infected pair and a creepy doctor next week!
I know no one will read this blog, but hell even Wil Wheaton has a blog. I want one too!
By the way Wil, I am still heartbroken over that dirty look you gave me at GenCon SoCal. I was just eating my yummy chicken strips! I didn’t ask what you’d starred in lately nor did I stick you with my bat’leth. What gives dude?
Finally.

Testing the blog!
I think a year has gone by since the site went down. I’d like to thank all of you that still took the time to order from me via e-mail.
